Usage Guide¶
This guide covers how to use Bookcard to manage and read your ebook library.
First Steps¶
- Login: Use the admin credentials you configured during installation
- Configure Library: Ensure your Calibre library path is correctly mounted
- Import Books: Books from your Calibre library will be automatically detected
Reading Books¶
Web Reader¶
- Navigate to a book in your library
- Click "Read" to open the web reader
- Use the toolbar to:
- Adjust font size
- Change theme (light/dark)
- Navigate pages
- Bookmark pages
Reading Progress¶
Your reading progress is automatically saved and synced across devices.
Managing Your Library¶
Shelves¶
Create custom shelves to organize your books:
- Go to "Shelves" in the navigation
- Click "Create Shelf"
- Add books to shelves by clicking the shelf icon on any book
Search and Filter¶
- Use the search bar to find books by title, author, or tags
- Apply filters for format, date added, or custom metadata
- Save search queries for quick access
Metadata¶
- Automatic metadata fetching from OpenLibrary and other sources
- Manual editing of book details
- Cover image management
Sending to Devices¶
Kobo Devices¶
- Configure your Kobo device email in settings
- Select books and click "Send to Device"
- Books will be converted and emailed to your device
Tips¶
- Use tags to organize books by genre, reading status, etc.
- Create reading lists with shelves
- Export your library data for backup
- Use the API for automation (see API Documentation)
